Flexible Work Policy: The work for the Lead Data Engineer position is completely 100% remote anywhere in the United States except Hawaii or United States Territories. This position may have the potential to travel up to 20% dependent on business needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review project objectives and determine best technology to apply;
Design and build large scale datasets for a wide range of consumer needs;
Build, test and implement highly efficient data pipelines using a variety of technologies;
Develop best practice standards for solution design and data structures;
Analyze new data sources to understand quality, availability and content;
Write technical design documentation;
Conducts peer code reviews;
Create and executes unit tests;
Supports QA team during testing;
Mentor less experienced members of the development team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field required;
AWS certification preferred
Related Experience:
6+ years of professional IT experience;
4+ years of data engineering related experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Experience overseeing other developers;
Proven ability to model data for reporting and analytics needs;
Proven ability to analyze and understand existing processes and code;
Works and communicates effectively with all levels of management;
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills;
Must work well within team-oriented environments.
Familiarity with:
Use of CI/CD tools (Chef, Jenkins, Bamboo, Git/Bitbucket);
Supporting self-service reporting and analytics;
Working with semi-structured data.
Proficiency in one or more of the following:
SQL
Oracle, MySQL, other relational databases
Python
AWS (ERM, Lambda, IAM, S3)
Linux
Nice to have:
Snowflake
Airflow
R or Pandas
API development (Mulesoft)
Machine Learning
Tableau
Alteryx
Kinesis or Kafka
Universal Pay Language:
Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is between $85,000 - $140,000.
This role will also receive annual incentive plan bonus.
