Job Description

Candidate Profile

This is a role perfect for an individual with proven solar PV site development engineering and planning skills. We seek ‘forward-leaning’ candidates that can coordinate and deliver high-quality engineering deliverables. You will be working on large-scale solar and storage projects across the US, with direct exposure to planning and zoning offices, permitting, and engineering consultants, as well as internal executive management. The candidate must have a keen eye for details and understanding of the planning and engineering chain to bring projects to commercial operation.

Position & Impact

You will be part of a core team in the Planning & Engineering Division, supporting the development of the Company’s solar and storage projects. It is important to note that this is an applied role – the work you do will advance integrated solar power plant developments across the US. Candidates should have experience developing and managing deliverables for early due diligence through construction, as well as performing land development engineering analyses and layouts via GIS and CAD software.

Ideal candidates will have work experience with EPC, IE/OE engineering firms, planning, and zoning commissions, and permitting with various federal, state, and local agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and perform land constraints analyses and layouts for development of solar and storage facilities to the Company’s standards.
  • Prepare and perform internal risk assessments for the construction and permitting of solar and storage projects.
  • Manage the development of the civil engineering packages; work with internal teams to shepherd the deliverables through the local and state permitting process.
  • Review regulatory requirements and technical permitting parameters that affect site civil engineering; be a subject matter expert for permit planning, working with Project Development counterparts to ensure projects meet permit deadlines.
  • Design and optimize projects based on techno-economic analysis; collaborate closely with the Project Development and Corporate Finance teams to inform of material engineering changes.
  • Conduct technical analyses in GIS, CAD and other engineering software; advise Project Development on terrain analysis, specifically, site civil requirements and land constraints.
  • Define and manage the scope, schedule, and budget for the Company’s environmental due diligence on projects; communicate milestone achievements and potential risks to management.
  • Understanding and proven experience of zoning regulations and permitting process.
  • Understanding of construction (EPC) contracts and budgeting.

PVSyst experience preferred, but not required.
