Opportunity for an experienced BA to join a cross functional team seeking to identify new cutting edge solutions for defence challenges.
An exciting opportunity for a Security Cleared (SC) Business Analyst to join an established team working across the Defence sector, specialising in the delivery of Discovery phases of digital defence projects. The successful candidates will be self starting consultants with a willingness to work closely with development teams as well as with end users and suppliers. The programme of work is focussed on developing cutting edge solutions in the field of autonomous, AI-led technology for defence operations in a military context, seeking to exploit data science and advanced analytics for the benefit of the nation.
Responsibilities
To be the interface between the Design team, Development team and also with stakeholders and end users.
Collaborate with Defence senior stakeholders to gather requirements
Run workshops to build a picture of “As is” & “to be” for the solution
Capture, challenge, distil and present findings, as well as support the build of the business cases for the customers use
Eliciting, identifying, documenting and articulating Constraints, Risks, Assumptions, Issues and Dependencies (CRAIDO) and Opportunities to inform the feasibility of proceeding to an Alpha phase, including cost baselines
Work with QA team in testing the solution
Contribute in spring planning, peer reviews, daily stand ups.
Apply and tailor the Government Digital Standards (GDS) to internal focussed services
Requirements
Good understanding of agile and lean development principles.
Proven experience working as a Business Analyst in agile software development teams.
Familiarity with software engineering concepts to effectively communicate with developers and understand technical constraints and opportunities.
Ability to collaborate with designers and user researchers to align on translating user needs into functional requirements and wireframes.
Experience working with QA teams to test engineering outputs and verify that acceptance criteria are met.
Experience working to GDS standards
Extensive experience working in Discovery phase of project
Experience working on both public facing and internal focussed projects
Significant experience working in agile environments
Experience / Desire to work on a range of complex and greenfield digital projects
Excellent stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills
Willingness to travel to client sites as required
Out of the box thinker with “can do” attitude
Additional Information
Day rate: Up to £450
IR35: Outside
Location: Remote / Portsmouth (1 a fortnight)
Start Date: January 2025
Duration: 12 Months (Significant opportunity for extension)
Requires Active SC or DV Clearance
