Our client is a large technology company based in the Greater Seattle Area. They develop software, services, products, and hardware devices.
BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ANALYST 3
A Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for taking the raw data that a company holds and mining it to achieve valuable business insights. These insights are then used to inform critical business and marketing decisions.
Job Responsibilities:Manage monthly rhythm of the business: 1) Ensure performance results across key metrics are gathered and prepared into charts on time, during the first week of each month, 2) Identify key drivers of business performance by doing month-over-month, year-over-year analysis of key performance metrics and 3) Communicate insights and drivers via succinct bullets, as well as ones that can impact future forecasts
Manage ad-hoc analysis: Develop insight into business opportunities which could include analyzing regional/market trends, customer trends, content trends, performance KPIs, etc
Manage specific projects: including timeline and content development for partner meetings
Ensure that data is being correctly gathered stored and analyzed
Predominantly use Excel to manipulate data into views that are insightful, and Power BI and Adobe Analytics to extract data
Develop methodologies to improve data analysis and/or processes
Serves as a liaison between the business team and the data organization
What makes this role interesting? What makes candidates interested in this client as a company due to their status. Some of the projects they work on are fun in terms of working on application games that are in the digital storefront. They want to stock the store with applications, and they work with 3rd party application industries which include entertainment with social apps (Netflix, Spotify, and other applications that help people do things). It is a very unique team in comapny that analysts would get great exposure to the business, and it moves very quickly as they focus on a portfolio of products.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Top 3 Skills:
1. Minimum 5 years’ experience with analyzing & reporting experiences
2. Minimum 5 years’ experience with Working with applications – Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Tableau, Adobe analytics
3. Minimum 5 years’ experience with project management/communicating insights to leadership
Years of Experience: They are looking for 5-7 years of experience with business intelligence.
Qualifications:
Must be able to analyze and report/story tell. Most resumes are focused on pulling data aspect of that and they are not looking for people who are building data warehouses but looking for someone who is able to translate/understand the numbers that are effective to be used for a marketing team. A lot of times, resumes are more focused on what the number is rather than the reason behind how and why they got the numbers.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Demonstrates informed knowledge of one of: e-commerce / digital marketing / online commerce
Prior solid/strong experience with Microsoft Excel - ability to create pivot tables, manipulate data into insightful views - and understanding of Power BI
Prior solid/strong experience with Adobe Analytics and ideally Adobe Customer Journey Analytics as well
Strong reporting skills to present insights concisely via visuals and written bullets
Able to work both alone to analyze findings as well as a member of a team working with other departments
Ability to communicate findings with management and conduct necessary research to offer solutions to problems
Project management skills to handle diverse projects often simultaneously and meet aggressive deadlines
Ability to increase operating efficiency
Basic knowledge of data/reporting tools to quickly learn how data streams are stored and utilized by the team
Degree/Certs: None required.
Disqualifiers: Candidate has a new job every 3-4 months – tenure would be a concern in terms of them being committed to wanting to work for client.
Best:
If they have previous experiences working at Microsoft or other big tech companies. That would be a good indicator that they can work in a fast-paced environment.
Candidates who have previous experience working in e-commerce type of field since they already have industry knowledge and understand the metrics which they are measuring.
Digital marketing experience a plus - analysts who have experience in digital marketing, e-commerce would ramp up faster in role so this would be attractive experience. Having experience reporting on web, campaigns, etc.
Adobe Analytics/Adobe Customer Journey Analytics & Power BI experience strongly preferred - these tools hold our raw data and the candidate will need to be familiar with them
PI: Feedback from team & Sponsor. Based on meeting deadlines on projects. There is going to be dashboards, performance insights that need to be provided on an ongoing basis. The ability to meet deadlines is key, data accuracy will be a key factor, and their ability to drive & understand insights to explain numbers they are pulling and delivery of this information. Must provide best visuals.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Start & End: 12/2/2024 – 6/30/2025.
Schedule: M-F, 40 hrs a week, no OT expected.
Typical Tasks: The role will consist of 40% data pulling 40% developing narratives/slides 20% team collaboration.
Interaction Level: High level of interaction with Team & Sponsor.
Work Environment: Remote.
