Reporting to the Manager, ERP Data & Reporting, the Data Governance Lead will be an experienced professional who can internalize Teck's diverse business needs and develop robust governance solutions to achieve our business objectives. This outstanding individual will excel in engaging partners, possess high-level knowledge of data governance practices, and have demonstrable experience in using data governance frameworks to enhance decision-making and ensure compliance.

Responsibilities
Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
Develop and maintain the enterprise-wide data governance strategy to ensure it supports the delivery of both current and future business objectives
Monitor, assess, and enhance Teck's data governance framework; including data policies, data quality standards, and data stewardship practices
Be responsible for the implementation of data governance policies and standards to ensure compliance and that best practices are followed across the organization
Lead all aspects of the data governance office to support the effective implementation and maintenance of data governance working teams
Own the comprehensive roadmap of data governance initiatives across the enterprise, detailing current and target states, leading data governance forums, and ensuring partners are briefed and aligned on overall improvement plans
Provide technical expertise and oversight for data governance initiatives, collaborating closely with various roles including solution architects, data owners, data stewards, product owners, data engineers, and managers, to ensure successful implementation and alignment to governance standards
Ensure effective solutions meet the enterprise data governance standards to support desired business outcomes
Be an advocate of data security and protection principles and ensure appropriate practices are included in all data governance solutions
Lead efforts to improve data quality, data lineage, and metadata management through robust data governance practices
Stay up to date with new technologies, and best practices in data governance and management
Create evaluation methods and KPI's to measure the efficiency of data governance initiatives to ensure continuous improvement
Qualifications
Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field/relevant experience
Minimum 8 years of experience, with 3+ years in data governance, or data management, with significant experience with the design and implementation of data governance frameworks and resolving data quality and compliance challenges
Demonstrable experience in leading/influencing teams comprising Data Owners, Data Stewards, Solution Architects, and SME's
A comprehensive understanding of data governance frameworks, data lineage, data loss prevention, data quality, and metadata management
Certifications in Data Management and Data Governance would be considered an asset
Superb communication and presentation skills with the ability to collaborate efficiently with technical and non-technical partners
Proven knowledge of data privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, Privacy Act Canada, Bill 64, and other relevant legislation along with current updates in these areas is an asset
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about data governance issues

Salary Range: $119,000 - $145,000
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
