MP Cloud is looking for a key individual for our Technology team that will take charge of the development and ongoing maintenance of our infrastructure. We are a small company with big goals and are looking for an individual at a place in their career who is interested in taking on a role with varying areas of overlap and responsibility to learn and grow with us.
A few things you can expect from us at MP Cloud -
Your work-life balance quality is of critical importance to us - you will be expected to be generally available during normal business hours, but beyond completing agreed upon work with reasonable estimations, your time is yours.
That awesome dream job you've always wanted where your work is fun and your free time is respected? That's what we aim for this to be.
Your time spent here will be an investment in your future. We'll make sure that you have the baseline skills to complete the initial expectations of the role, but after aligning on opportunities to learn, you will be provided considerable opportunities to advance and enhance your skillset.
Your growth is important to us and we are here to support it!
Sound good? Here's what we think you'll need to get started -
Demonstrated functional knowledge of various infrastructure elements within a cloud environment. The bulk of work you will be doing, will be interacting with AWS solutions such as docker containers running on ECS, and maintaining/deploying applications within an ECS cluster. At some point, we are expecting to venture into the K8 world as well.
Functional understanding networking and how to secure networks from public facing internet - our environment has been designed under a Zero Trust approach, and we'd expect you to be familiar with this, and bought in on this type of security.
A working competency of writing/editing YAML - you will need this to properly automate IaC, and while it will be completely acceptable to use available AI/LLM tools to assist you with writing boilerplate, it will be critical for you to be able to read and parse the code you write for accuracy and efficiency.
A baseline skillset or a strong interest in an object-oriented programming language. You will mostly be working with applications written in Python and JS/TS (React), but if you have a fundamental understanding of any other OOP - the transition to both of these, should not be difficult.
Still interested? Here are a few softer skillsets that we'll be looking for in an interview -
A desire to learn! Our environment is pretty small and we're in the middle of a major overhaul of most of it - this is the perfect time for you to take your baseline skillsets to the next level and put some awesome things on your resume.
An interest in being thorough and spending the time not to just get things done, but think about how things should be done, and ensuring its done right the first time. We're not looking for speed in all cases - we recognize that efficiencies can be gained simply by not having to untangle tech debt in the future.
The ability to take direction, think through the work that needs to be done, and be open and honest about the estimation of how complex that work is, and how long it will take to complete.
Tying to the above, having the ability to be contentious when it comes to analyzing requests, but also be an effective communicator, will be critical to the success with this role.
