About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Director, Business Development to lead our investment strategy, investor engagement and capital-raising research with a view to establishing new business models and products. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the asset management industry, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record of fostering relationships with institutional and individual investors. This role is critical in supporting our company’s growth objectives and ensuring the alignment of investors with our strategic vision. What You Will Do (Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)) Investment Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement the company’s overall investment strategy, including asset allocation which includes a strong focus on India, sector focus, and risk management framework. Lead and manage business development efforts to identify investment opportunities across global markets, with a focus on India. Oversee the sourcing, due diligence, structuring, execution, and monitoring of all investments. Strategic Partnership Development: Build and maintain strong relationships with key industry stakeholders, partners, and potential investors to support business growth. Represent the company at industry conferences, networking events, and panels to enhance visibility. Deal Origination & Execution: Drive deal origination efforts, leveraging the company’s network and market expertise. Oversee the due diligence process, including financial analysis, legal review, and risk assessment. Lead deal negotiations and ensure successful transaction closings. Portfolio Management: Oversee the ongoing management of the investment portfolio, including monitoring performance, managing risk, and implementing strategies to optimize returns. Develop and implement portfolio reporting and analysis. Risk Management: Establish and maintain a robust risk management framework, ensuring appropriate risk assessment and mitigation strategies are in place. Monitor portfolio risk and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. Market Analysis: Monitor and analyze industry and market trends to identify opportunities and risks. Provide strategic insights to leadership to inform key business decisions and refine investment strategies. Collaborate with internal teams to stay aligned on market conditions and performance metrics. Fundraising Support: Support fundraising efforts by providing investment expertise and participating in investor meetings. Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements in all investor-related activities, including documentation and reporting. Coordinate with legal and finance teams to facilitate audits and due diligence processes. Oversee the preparation of materials for annual reports, and other investor-related documentation. Investor Relations: Contribute to investor relations activities, including presentations to existing and prospective investors. Communicate the company’s investment strategy and performance effectively. Team Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing investment team. Oversee performance reviews, compensation, and professional development of team members. Additional Duties: Assume responsibility for any other duties essential to the role. What You Will Bring (Skills & Qualifications) Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CFA designation preferred. At least 8 years of experience in private credit investing, including a strong investment track record in India, expertise in business development and investment management, and a proven history of success. Extensive experience in deal origination, structuring, execution, and portfolio management. Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to build and motivate a high-performing team. Deep understanding of credit markets, financial modelling, and risk management. Strong ethical standards and commitment to integrity. Results-driven and entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for relationship-building. Strategic thinker with a collaborative and team-oriented approach. Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
