Our Device team is made up of driven engineers who are responsible for all of the code running on a variety of devices Flock deploys in the real world.How you'll make an impact:Implement live video streaming from the Flock android device meeting the latency requirements.Collaborate with cloud team to design the interface between the device and the cloud infrastructure.Add reliable unit, integration, and e2e tests.Keep abreast of current technologies and recent developments in mobile and media technologies.Participate in the decision-making process.Design systems at scale – We capture over 200M images daily and process them on the device in real time.Own features through their lifecycle: ideation, proof of concept, beta testing, and release.Collaborate with Hardware, Machine Learning, and Platform teams on multifaceted projects.Work with systems designed for ultimate redundancy and high availability.Balance performance with energy consumption.Work directly with Product to develop innovative software solutions.Interface multiple IoT devices together to share data.We're looking for people who:Have familiarity with video streaming technologies, gstreamer and codecs such as H.264.Love writing code and have extensive experience doing so.Have delivered production Android apps (ideally in Kotlin!) with more than a few downloads.Have a strong desire to understand the root cause of a problem and deliver a robust solution.Like to work on a product you can touch, see, and experience.Experience with audio/video or graphics on Android.Experience with WebRTC.Experience with network protocols.Experience with Android camera stack is a plus.Our TechWe work with the following technologies:Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Series and 8 Series.Android Open Source Project (AOSP) 8.1 and 10.Kotlin, Java, and C++.Room/sqlite3.OpenCV.Tensorflow.Custom TCP and UDP protocols for content delivery.Silicon Labs BLE Microcontrollers.Why Join Us?We have raised over $380M in venture capital.94% of our employees recommend working here.We have an audacious goal of reducing crime in the United States by 25% over the next three years.3% of crimes in the US are solved by Flock.Employee BenefitsEquity (stock options) in the company.Unlimited PTO and twelve paid holidays.Fully-paid health benefits plan for employees.16 weeks of 100% paid leave for primary caregivers.$150 per month work from home allowance.$250 per year L&D stipend.One-time stipend of $750 for home office setup.Coworking space access for non-local employees.Flock is an equal opportunity employer.
