Job Description The candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and unit testing of Java/J2EE-based web applications. Initially, the focus will be on developing a new application to secure communications between the central office in Washington, DC, and state offices. After the secure communications application is developed, the candidate will support new Java application development and maintenance work. The applicant must demonstrate the ability to work independently or under general direction. An analytical thinker with a strong approach to design and problem-solving is essential. The candidate should be comfortable writing new code and refactoring existing code. Responsibilities include ensuring optimal performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications, identifying bottlenecks and bugs, and devising solutions. The candidate will also help maintain code quality, organization, and automation, and will participate in peer code reviews. Familiarity with Agile Software Development methodologies is required. The candidate will apply enterprise-wide disciplines for planning, analysis, design, and construction of information systems. Responsibilities include developing analytical and computational techniques for problem-solving, performing strategic systems planning and business analysis, and conducting process and data modeling using both manual and automated tools, such as Integrated Computer-Aided Software Engineering tools. Technical guidance in software engineering techniques and automated support tools will also be provided. Basic Qualifications Strong development skills in Java/J2EE technologies. Experience with Java 8, Spring REST, MVC, JPA, Hibernate, Spring Boot, and integration. Experience in Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Microservices Architecture (MSA), including SOAP and REST web services. Proficiency with Tomcat, WildFly, Apache CXF, Apache Axis 2, and complex SQL, Stored Procedures and Functions. Experience with Spring Batch, Quartz Scheduling, Jasper Reports, Log4J, JUnit, Maven, and AWS Codecommit. Experience with one of the SPA UI frameworks (Angular, React, or Vue.js). Strong experience in Java script /Type Script and good understanding of Node JS Experience with Adobe Flash, ActionScript, Cairngorm Flex framework. Hands on usage of tools like MyEclipse, VS Code, and Codecommit. Ability to work independently on resolving the issues identified. Desired skills Hands-on experience with MySQL Database, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud (Netflix Zuul, Config Server, Eureka), FEIGN Client, Swagger Codegen. Familiarity with Atlassian Jira, iText, and single sign-on technologies like CAS is a plus.Working knowledge of Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) setups.Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage tasks under multiple constraints.Good understanding of AWS Cloud platform. Typical Minimums Bachelor’s degrees from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 8 years of professional experience; or 6 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree.
