Hadoop Administrator with Cloudera Experience

This role is responsible for providing primary administration and support for data and analytics-related applications, including Hadoop and Cloudera environments, used at Early Warning. The position serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for data applications and processes to ensure they remain current and meet the needs of Early Warning users.

• Act as owner and primary administrator of Hadoop and Cloudera environments, along with other assigned application(s).
• Provide application and system support to all employees for Hadoop and Cloudera ecosystems and other assigned application(s).
• Troubleshoot issues, providing expert-level support. Resolve issues or escalate to Systems team or vendor as needed, ensuring resolution.
• Architect Hadoop/Cloudera systems and integrate them with other applications to meet business needs.
• Establish best practices for administering and securing Hadoop/Cloudera environments.
• Monitor application and system performance, implementing evaluation and optimization techniques.
• Develop and implement job automation using scripts, tools, and Cloudera features.
• Implement solutions to meet specific customer or business needs.
• Research, evaluate, and provide guidance in the selection of 3rd party applications compatible with Hadoop/Cloudera environments.
• Analyze application incidents to identify root causes and collaborate with Cloudera support for solutions.
• Review and enhance existing processes to improve efficiency within Hadoop/Cloudera systems.
• Work with stakeholders to establish measurable key metrics, KPIs, and SLAs.
• Oversee successful installation and validation of vendor-provided upgrades, patches, and enhancements to Cloudera and related systems.
• Monitor license usage and provide budgetary recommendations for additional licenses as needed.
• Process and implement change requests for application configuration modifications.
• Maintain a roadmap for Hadoop and Cloudera systems and assist leadership in setting priorities.
• Provide timely and accurate status reporting.
• Manage projects to build new workflows, functionality, and reporting capabilities in Hadoop/Cloudera environments, including requirements gathering, configuration, testing, user documentation, and training.
• Develop and maintain user documentation, policies, and procedures related to assigned applications.
• Drive user adoption across the organization through training and best practices.
• Maintain vendor relationships to resolve application issues and advocate for Early Warning s needs in future releases.
• Support the company s commitment to protect the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.

• Bachelor s Degree in Business, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of demonstrated professional experience as an application administrator in an enterprise environment.
• Extensive experience with Hadoop ecosystems, including Cloudera Administration.
• Familiarity with additional data domain applications such as Tableau, Business Objects, Infoburst.
• Hands-on experience with database applications such as MSSQL and Hadoop.
• Experience deploying applications to hosted cloud platforms such as AWS.
• Strong oral and written communication skills to interact proficiently with all levels of management and staff.
• General knowledge or familiarity with office productivity tools such as Windows OS, MS Office, and Visio.
• Familiarity with applications such as or similar to JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow, and Workday.
• Demonstrated experience supporting vendor-provided applications as an administrator.
• Proven capability to coach and mentor team members.
• Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Background and drug screen required.
