Title: Java/SRE Developer

Client : Ahold Delhaize

Location : 100% Remote

Duration : 9 months

Project Scope / Components:

Ecommerce platform huge platform crucial to the org

Things need to be resolved quickly or else there are major financial implications for ahold

Simplest way to look at it is it's an ordering managing system

Customer goes to site, add products into shopping cart, workflow management behind the scene up until the order is fulfilled delivery vs pickup etc.

Will be focusing on fulfillment and transportation domain

Strong java developer getting into sre need to do basic observability

Moving more into containers with kuberentes

Team Size & Breakdown:

SRE team: adding more folks, expected be around 14 people

Development Methodology:

High-Level Individual Duties:

Improve reliability for highly critical apps

Identify issue in java app and quickly resolve

Knowing how to properly diagnose a java application

Lot of work on Kubernetes

Helping other teams migrate from on prem with Kubernetes

When orders come in, if it is stuck for whatever reason, this person needs to come in diagnose, and address

Expected to be on call rotation primary and secondary, once every 4 weeks (not set in stone)

Needs to be proactive from a reliability standpoint, making improvements before things break

Managing incidents and following up on post mortem analysis

Kafka streaming when an order comes in all of that is managed in Kafka CORE TO EVERYTHING THEY DO

Must-Haves (Concepts & Tools):

Cloud azure preference, not a hard requirement but will need to learn and come up to speed on

Kubernetes deploying apps on virtual machines strong plus

Java ok with version 8+ (17+ preferred), actual java application development experience and not just support, experience with end-to-end java application development, knowing where they can jump in and dive and in during incidents

Go getter enthusiastic attitude, can't be passive

Observability tools: Data dog (preferred)/splunk/new relic

Automation tools argo cd preference
