Frontend Software Developer - Poket About Us: Poket (https://www.poketapp.com) is a Toronto-based startup that offers a software used for field surveying and data collection in the sustainability arena. NGOs, researchers and businesses use our solution for crowdsourcing, citizen-generated data, self-reported data and mapping/GIS data collection. Many of our projects focus on climate-smart agriculture, clean-conservation efforts, air/land-based pollution and reducing food waste . A large focus of our work is on impact-based projects in developing markets (Sub-Saharan Africa, South (East) Asia, LATAM, etc). As a Frontend Engineer at POKET, you will develop Angular, React Native and Android applications for our suite of portfolio applications. You will work with the product owner to define solutions for our developing business needs and oversee the completion of key initiatives. We are looking for a candidate to start in September 2023. Roles and Responsibilities: Design, build and maintain highly reusable JavaScript, HTML and CSS code Develop frontend components in React Native and Android Come up with UI and UX strategies based on target goals Create and maintain digital assets, such as interface design files, wireframes and interactive mockups using design and prototyping tools Diagnose and fix bugs and performance issues Maintain code and write automated tests to ensure high quality code Ensure code compatibility across different screen sizes and platforms Preferred Skills & Experience: 2+ years’ of professional experience as a front-end developer 2+ years’ of experience as a UI/UX designer 2+ years’ experience on front-end optimization techniques 2+ years’ experience and good knowledge of NPM registry libraries/packages Expert knowledge of CSS, CSS extension languages (Less, Sass), and CSS preprocessor tools Expert knowledge of HTML5 and its best practices Strong working experience building for mobile apps (such as Mobile First) Ability to establish best practices for unit, integration, end-to-end, and visual testing guidelines in React and front-end development Bonus Requirements: Experience with profiling and performance tuning of large React applications Experience with Webpack, or other tools used to optimize and maintain front-end build systems Familiarity with modern backend build pipelines and tools Experience with code versioning tools such as Git, Bitbucket, etc. Experience with Continuous Development or Continuous Integration Job Type: Fixed term contract Contract length: 4 months Pay: $18.00-$19.00 per hour Benefits: Work from home Flexible language requirement: French not required Schedule: Monday to Friday Application question(s): Will you be a current student enrolled in a post-secondary institution in January 2025?
