We are looking for,

Position: Mainframe zOS developer

Location: Remote

Duration: Long Term Contract

As a key member of the development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining mission-critical applications running on the IBM mainframe platform, particularly in a z/OS environment. You will work closely with system architects, business analysts, and other developers to ensure high-performance, reliable, and scalable solutions for our enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Mainframe Application Development: Develop and maintain applications on the IBM z/OS platform using mainframe programming languages such as COBOL, PL/I, CICS, JCL, and DB2.
• z/OS System Programming: Work within z/OS environment to ensure smooth integration of applications with various system utilities, tools, and processes (e.g., JES2, MVS, TSO).
• Data Management: Design and optimize database structures, manage data flow, and work with DB2, VSAM, IMS, or other database management systems for high-performance data handling.
• Performance Optimization: Analyze and optimize the performance of mainframe applications, ensuring they meet the performance benchmarks, scalability, and availability requirements.
• Troubleshooting and Support: Provide troubleshooting and support for production issues, ensuring minimum downtime and maximum availability of critical systems.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, QA engineers, and system architects, to understand requirements and deliver quality software solutions.
• Documentation: Maintain clear and concise documentation of all code and systems design to ensure long-term maintainability and adherence to enterprise standards.
• Testing and Debugging: Write and execute unit tests, system tests, and integration tests to ensure robust and reliable code. Participate in debugging complex issues and resolving them promptly.
• Version Control and Release Management: Use version control tools (e.g., Git, Endeavor, or ISPF) to manage code changes and follow standard release management practices.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in COBOL, PL/I, and JCL.
• Experience with z/OS, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.
• Familiarity with mainframe development tools such as TSO/ISPF, CA-7, and other IBM utilities.
• Strong understanding of batch processing, job control languages, and data management.
• Experience with performance tuning and system optimization on the mainframe.

Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in mainframe development with a focus on z/OS.
• Hands-on experience in the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise-level mainframe applications.
• Experience with database management systems such as DB2, IMS, and VSAM.
• Proven ability to debug and troubleshoot mainframe applications
