About the Role: We are seeking a talented and passionate Minecraft Java developer/moderator to help create and maintain an engaging and safe online environment for children aged 5-13. This role involves a blend of coding skills, creative skills, and spontaneous problem solving skills to troubleshoot urgent technical issues that hinder our students' learning and engagement in our Minecraft courses. Responsibilities Plugin Development: Develop custom Minecraft plugins using Java to enhance gameplay and create unique experiences. Implement new game modes and features that align with the educational goals of our courses. Troubleshoot and fix bugs swiftly within existing plugins. Server Administration: Monitor server performance and address technical issues promptly. Update Minecraft server software and plugins to the latest versions. Configure server settings to optimize performance and security. World Creation: Design and build immersive Minecraft worlds, including historically accurate landmarks and creative landscapes. Utilize world-building tools and techniques to create engaging environments. Moderation: Enforce server rules and guidelines to maintain a positive and respectful community. Proactively prevent hacking and cheating with plugins and monitoring. Monitor chat logs and prevent the sharing of sensitive information or inappropriate content using plugins. Be on top of inappropriate Gen Alpha slang and censor it. Technical Support: Assist teachers and admin with Minecraft installation, setup, and troubleshooting. Update Minecraft software and mods on student MacBooks. Provide guidance and support to players as needed. Qualifications Strong proficiency in Java programming, with experience in Minecraft plugin development is required. In-depth knowledge of Minecraft server administration and configuration is required. Completing a CORI background check is required. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Passion for Minecraft and a commitment to creating positive gaming experiences for children. A deep understanding of childrens' needs and interests.
