Job Description We are seeking a skilled and experienced Open Policy Agent (OPA) Developer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining policy-based solutions using OPA and Rego for cloud-native environments and applications. You will work closely with DevOps, security, and application development teams to implement policies that ensure compliance, security, and operational efficiency across diverse platforms. This role involves writing custom policies, integrating OPA into various services, and maintaining policy-as-code frameworks Key Responsibilities Policy Development: Write and maintain policies using the Rego language to support authorization, access control, and compliance use cases. Security and Compliance: Ensure all policies meet the organization’s security, privacy, and compliance standards, adapting to evolving regulatory requirements. OPA Integration: Implement OPA in various systems such as Kubernetes, microservices architectures, service meshes (e.g., Istio), and API gateways to enforce dynamic, real-time policy decisions. Collaboration: Work closely with development, security, and DevOps teams to gather requirements, understand business needs, and develop policies that enhance security and operational efficiency. Testing & Validation: Develop automated tests and validation processes for policy enforcement, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and security. Policy Monitoring & Debugging: Troubleshoot and optimize OPA policy execution performance, debugging issues as they arise, and improving policy management systems. Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for policy configurations, best practices, and usage guidelines to support team adoption and long-term policy management. Support Policy-as-Code: Develop and maintain tools and frameworks for policy-as-code implementations, enabling continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) workflows. Qualifications Hands-on experience with Open Policy Agent (OPA) and Rego for writing and deploying policies. Solid understanding of Kubernetes, service meshes (e.g., Istio), and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP). Experience in integrating OPA into CI/CD pipelines, API gateways, and microservices architectures. Proficiency in programming or scripting languages (e.g., Go, Java, Python, JavaScript, or others). Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Helm, or Ansible. Familiarity with access control models (RBAC, ABAC, PBAC) and their implementation in cloud environments. Understanding of cloud security best practices, zero-trust architectures, and policy-based security models. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a dynamic environment. Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members across DevOps, security, and development teams. Ability to understand and align with business needs while providing technical solutions. Education / Training / Experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in DevOps, Security, or Cloud Infrastructure roles, with a focus on policy enforcement or authorization systems. Experience with OPA and Rego in production environments is highly preferred. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cloud-native security tools and frameworks. Familiarity with GitOps, CI/CD pipelines, and policy-as-code methodologies.
