The School of Business is seeking a Part-time Curriculum Developer to create a new course entitled HRM72010: Equity, Diversity & Inclusion in the Workplace, part of the Bachelor of Human Resources Management degree program. Course Description This course focuses on the key topics that impact the adoption of diversity, equity, and inclusion practices within the context of the new realities of the global workforce. Students will learn the theoretical perspectives on equity, diversity, inclusion, and how to lead across differences. Topics include: the global context for diversity management; social psychological perspectives of workplace diversity; the inclusive workplace model; managing a diverse workforce; discrimination, equality, and fairness in employment; global demographic trends, culture, and communication in the global workplace. We will relate leading research to personal experience, business cases, and press articles to develop a rich connection between theory and practice. A major emphasis of this course is the development of critical thinking, personal leadership, and teamwork skills. The successful candidate will create, review, and revise course content for a 42-hour long course to be delivered in class. The course consists of up to 14 modules and must be developed for a 15-week delivery. The primary tasks for course module creation are researching, writing, creating, and curating content to ensure an equivalent of three hours of teaching (lecture and activities) per week. Assessments will also need to be created based on course content. The Part-time Curriculum Developer will follow the guidelines and processes of Conestoga’s School of Business and receive course development and technical support throughout their work. Successful candidates will meet the needs of the School of Business through a remote work schedule, and the successful candidate will be required to conduct work within Ontario. The project timeline is approximately six months between February and July 2025. Responsibilities Develop and curate all course content, including weekly PowerPoint slides, detailed assessments, grading rubrics, an instructional plan, lesson plans/teaching materials, and activities Post course materials to the online learning environment and set up tools (e.g., gradebook) Attend orientation and regular check-in meetings with a Program and Course Development Consultant Provide regular progress updates and revise course materials based on feedback Collaborate with appropriate internal departments (e.g. Library, Bookstore, Curriculum Operations) Effectively manage a series of folders and document versions Produce and submit content and activities according to project timelines (i.e., work is required to be completed iteratively throughout the project and cannot be done all at once within a short timeframe) Engage in the final review and sign-off of each course module Qualifications Minimum of a Master’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field of study is required Minimum five years of work experience in equity, diversity and inclusion, and/or human rights is required Proficiency in computer systems (e.g., Microsoft 365 Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams) is required Certificate in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion is considered an asset Experience teaching and with curriculum development in adult education and post-secondary contexts is an asset Demonstrated capability to write and create text-based and multi-media learning materials Strong leadership skills and commitment to academic excellence, superior time and project management skills to meet required deadlines Knowledge and experience using course/learning management systems (e.g., D2L) is an asset Excellent communication, interpersonal, intercultural, and collaborative skills Able to work independently with little direct supervision Strong commitment to academic excellence, student success, and ability to support Conestoga’s continuous quality improvement initiatives #LI-POST #LI-REMOTE Conestoga College is a leader in polytechnic education.
