Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled WordPress Developer/Project Manager to join our team on a part-time freelance basis, with the potential to transition into a full-time role as we grow. The ideal candidate will primarily oversee our current developers, ensuring projects are delivered on time, accurately, and efficiently. This role focuses on WordPress development and project management - Note that we are specifically *not* interested in someone with a focus on full-stack development.

We are looking for someone who enjoys creating internal project management and website development systems, processes, and tools that improve efficiency and quality. If you take satisfaction in creating templates and processes that streamline repetitive tasks while allowing for flexibility, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Coordinate with developers, graphic designers, writers, and the tech team to expedite website projects.
  • System Development: Create and implement reusable templates and repetitive processes that streamline website development, reducing time and increasing consistency.
  • WordPress Development: Build or rebuild medium-sized websites in WordPress efficiently, accurately, and on time.
  • General Time Expectations: (20 hours or less over one week), assuming all necessary components are available.
  • Technical SEO Implementation: Apply technical SEO best practices, including site speed optimization and other on-page elements.
  • Cross-Platform Experience: Utilize experience with HTML, CSS, PHP, Wix, Squarespace, etc., to fix or rebuild sites from other platforms into WordPress.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all projects are error-free and meet high-quality standards through internal review processes.

Required Skills, Expectations, and Qualifications

  • WordPress Expertise: Minimum of 3 years specializing in WordPress development.
  • Process-Oriented Mindset: Enjoys building systems, tools, and templates that improve efficiency and streamline repetitive tasks.
  • Project Management Skills: Ability to manage development processes and coordinate team efforts.
  • Documentation: Skilled with creating SOP documents that are clear and easy to follow.
  • Technical SEO Knowledge: Understanding of core/foundational technical SEO elements and best practices.
  • Efficiency: Proven ability to deliver projects quickly and on time.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Organizational Skills: Attention to detail with a proactive approach to follow-through.
  • US Residency: Must reside within the USA; preference for candidates near Greensboro, NC.
  • High5 Assessment: Completion of the High5 assessment is required (https://high5test.com).
  • Portfolio Submission: Must provide a portfolio of at least 5 WordPress sites completed within the past 6 months, including hours spent on each.

Compensation
