Responsibilities

Research, write, edit, and update technical documentation, including:

  1. User manuals
  2. Online help guides
  3. API documentation
  4. Process workflows
  5. Software release notes
  6. Knowledge base articles
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) such as engineers, developers, and product managers to understand complex information.
  • Create content that simplifies technical jargon for non-technical users.
  • Format and structure documents to ensure usability and readability.
  • Review and edit existing documentation to align with current standards, updates, and branding.
  • Work with tools such as documentation platforms, content management systems (CMS), and design tools.
  • Follow company style guides, templates, and document version control processes.
  • Gather feedback from users and teams to improve documentation quality and usefulness.
  • Maintain a consistent voice, tone, and style across all materials.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Certification in Technical Writing (preferred but not required).

Experience:

  • 1–3 years of experience as a technical writer or in a related role.
  • Experience in technical industries such as software development, IT, healthcare tech, or engineering is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Agile development workflows or product release cycles is beneficial.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in technical writing tools like:
  • Microsoft Word, Google Docs
  • Markdown, LaTeX, or XML
  • Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, or RoboHelp
  • Documentation tools: Confluence, Notion, or Wiki platforms
  • Screenshot/visual tools: Snagit, Adobe Illustrator, or Visio
  • Familiarity with APIs and developer tools, if applicable.
  • Basic knowledge of coding languages (e.g., HTML, CSS, or JavaScript) is a plus.
  • Ability to organize and structure large amounts of technical data effectively.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn complex technical concepts quickly.
  • Excellent research, organizational, and time management abilities.
  • Attention to detail and consistency.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborative mindset to engage with SMEs and cross-functional teams.
