As a Senior Report Developer, you would be working within our Power BI environment to support our strategic approach in delivering an exceptional data consumption experience for our end users. Your responsibilities would include creating native queries, developing optimized dataflows/datasets, and performance/resource optimized reports and dashboards. You will be working as a member of our Data Strategy team while collaborating with multiple stakeholders and subject matter experts across various departments in our company.
Primary Responsibilities:
Create and maintain dataflows, datasets, reports, and/or dashboards based on the defined requirements set by the request stakeholder, while balancing the sustainability of scheduled refreshes and the overall performance and experience of the end user.
Write native queries that will be used in a layered architecture for dataflows and datasets.
Develop and create Power BI reports and dashboards that provide intelligible visualizations and innovative solutions that can assist in creating a competitive advantage for various partners including, but not limited to, operations, marketing, accounting, and underwriting.
Configuring real time dashboards (using APIs).
Optimize Power BI datasets and queries for performance and scalability.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting of Power BI reporting solutions, including investigation of data issues, data validation and data quality.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Work closely with data engineers and analysts to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
Stay updated with the latest Power BI features, AWS services, and industry best practices.
Proactively identify opportunities to improve existing dashboards, reports, and data processes.
Provide mentoring and training of Power BI functions to end users.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, systems engineering, or related field and minimum 4 years of experience as Power BI Developer or in a similar role.
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with AWS Services (particularly S3, Redshift, RDS, Athena and Glue).
Experience with setting up Power BI workspaces, dataflows/datasets, and pipelines.
Power Query data modelling experience and DAX language expertise.
Familiarity with SQL, Python, or other scripting languages for data manipulation and automation.
Hands-on experience with MySQL, Postgres, AWS
Experience supporting data analytics/data modeling projects
Experience with data visualization best practices and UI/UX design principles.
Strong problem-solving aptitude and an excellent communicator
Preferred Qualifications:
Data Warehouse and ETL Development Experience
Certification in Power BI (e.g., PL-300: Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst).
AWS certifications (AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or AWS Certified Data Engineer (Associate) or AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
Fintech, Underwriting, LMS experience.
Understanding of financial metrics, KPIs, and regulatory requirements
Experience with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Quicksight) is a plus.
Confluence and Jira experience
Working in a SCRUM/Agile development environment
Call center data analysis and reporting experience
