Senior DevOps Engineer - AWS, Ruby on Rails - Remote in EU


Our client seeks a Senior DevOps Engineer to join their growing software team. This dynamic startup focuses on innovative solutions in recruitment, talent development, and learning. The ideal candidate has a strong software engineering background, especially in Ruby on Rails, and the technical skills to manage and enhance cloud infrastructure. This role combines coding responsibilities with driving best practices in AWS, automation, and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Optimise and manage scalable, secure AWS systems.
  • Build and maintain infrastructure as code using Pulumi (Python).
  • Implement logging, audit trails, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Enhance monitoring and alert systems for improved reliability.
  • Manage Kubernetes clusters and containerised apps (Docker, Docker Compose).
  • Assist developers with Docker Compose setup and issue resolution.
  • Improve CI/CD workflows with GitHub Actions.
  • Manage data solutions, including Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, and Redis, ensuring backups and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with developers on Ruby on Rails apps and microservices.


Role Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of combined experience in DevOps and Software Development.
  • Hands-on expertise in Ruby on Rails.
  • Proficiency in core AWS services (e.g., EC2, RDS, S3, IAM).
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools, especially Pulumi (Python).
  • Strong knowledge of Docker and Docker Compose.
  • Advanced skills with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tools.
  • Familiarity with Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, and Redis.
  • Solid understanding of data security, compliance, and continuity best practices.
