The Senior Software Developer interprets specifications and develops, tests, and documents application components. This is a full-time employee position. How you will spend your time: Provides a full range of software development services to assigned client projects. Interprets business requirements and/or functional and/or technical specifications and designs/develops/documents/tests application modules within JEA’s procedural and quality frameworks: Translates solutions into detailed program specifications. Collaborates with team members to clarify program intent, determine areas of complexity, identify challenges and potential risks, and recommend development strategies. Conducts program design activities including the definition of data and error messages. Develops, optimizes and maintains application modules. Modifies programs to increase operating efficiencies, adapt to new requirements or correct errors. Verifies accuracy and completeness of software programs. Identifies, analyzes and remedies technical anomalies and deficiencies. Prepares sample data and unit tests and conducts testing to confirm application modules fulfil functional requirements. Prepares technical documentation for other developers, users, or system services personnel. Creates installation parameters to enable integration, transition and efficiencies. Prepares or contributes to instructions or manuals to guide end users. Contributes to the productivity and success of the development team: Collaborates on the management of workloads, and the accomplishment of team objectives. Contributes to the improvement of work processes and operational efficiencies. Provides coaching, mentoring, training and/or guidance to enhance the skills of other team members. Monitors own workload, provides regular progress reports and strives to increase productivity. Contributes to the enhancement of the positive corporate culture within the company, and the reputation of the company within the community, sector, and industry. Performs other related duties, within the context of the role. Must Haves: Degree or diploma in an IT discipline, mathematical or related field, preferred. 4 years of Java experience, with a focus on java application development experience with JavaServer Faces (JSF), preferred ADF experience preferred, working on a development team, interpreting specifications and developing/testing/documenting software application components. Experience developing pension administration software, preferred. Must be eligible to work in Canada. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance as a condition of employment. Must be willing to work outside normal work schedule to achieve deadlines. Software development life cycle and structured development methodology, including design principles, techniques and tools. Industry software development life cycle, technologies, and development tools. Proven knowledge of the following: Java, Javascript, JavaServer Faces (JSF), CSS, XML, SQL, PL/SQL Familiarity with the following preferred: Jira, C, Git, JDeveloper, Pro*C, Oracle ADF Oral and written communication skills; presentation skills; technical writing skills; and attention to detail when communicating. Analytical and problem solving skills. Able to manage multiple priorities and consistently produce results within timelines.
