Please note: This is not an employee opportunity at Koru, but an opportunity at one of our newly launched ventures, DataBraid. This company is a separate entity to Koru.
Who Is DataBraid?:
DataBraid (https://www.databraid.io/) is on a mission to revolutionize the insurance industry by building a next-gen infrastructure. We believe that insurance has a large role to play in society, offering financial security in uncertain times. Yet the product as it operates today is not fit for purpose. Imagine seamless data connectivity that empowers the insurance industry to innovate faster, deliver exceptional customer experiences, and future-proof technology. A future where insurance is something you WANT to buy rather than are REQUIRED to buy. If you've ever wanted to create something from the ground up that truly transforms an entire industry, keep reading.
DataBraid's Mission:
At DataBraid we are building data orchestration infrastructure to solve customer problems today while laying the foundations for the promise of an agentic future. We take inspiration from infrastructure-as-code companies such as Shopify, Plaid, and Stripe but we are purpose-built for the insurance industry. We are building data infrastructure for a world where connection does not require consensus.
The Role:
We’re looking for an experienced Full Stack Engineer to join the founding team. You’ll work side-by-side with our CTO and help shape not just the codebase but the entire company. We’re talking real influence — everything from big tech decisions to product strategy, all while working with a team that thrives on collaboration and transparency.
In this role, you’ll:
Be part of the founding team with direct input into the company’s strategic vision.
Work closely with Koru’s elite squad of product, design, and growth experts to build our MVP.
Architect, code, and iterate—while also helping guide agile processes as we learn and adapt fast.
Get scrappy. Some days you’re designing the future of insurance; other days, you’re getting deep into the nitty-gritty details of making it happen.
What We’re Looking For:
Polyglot Dev: You have 5+ years of experience working with a mix of coding languages (Python, TypeScript, Node, etc.).
Architect Extraordinaire: You’ve got experience building large-scale infrastructure, from backend to SaaS, APIs, and automation platforms.
Risk Taker: You’re comfortable with the ambiguity of startups and ready to make big bets with us.
API Rockstar: You know how to build high-quality, scalable APIs and have a passion for improving the developer experience.
0-to-1 Builder: Been part of an early team before? Even better. You know what it’s like to bring a product to life from scratch.
Entrepreneurial spirit: You’re scrappy and comfortable stepping outside your role and wearing multiple hats to move the business forward.
Leadership savvy: You’ve successfully led major projects and are ready to mentor future hires as we grow.
Flexibility & Independence: We are a remote-first team, and while we collaborate frequently, your ability to solve problems independently and work through ambiguity will be key.
Bonus Points If You:
Have experience with exploring and testing AI solutions, agentic architecture and systems, RPA, web scraping, or developer products.
Are familiar with our tech stack: FastAPI, Pydantic, Docker, Kubernetes, Django, AWS S3.
Can show us some apps you’ve built that prove you’re as skilled at frontend as you are backend.
What’s In It For You:
Salary: $110k - $150k CAD ($90k - $120k USD) Equity: 1-3% stock options
A chance to build something big from the ground up.
Remote-first culture with a team that knows how to collaborate across time zones.
Regular trips to Toronto, Canada to brainstorm, build, and socialize with the team (monthly, short-term travel).
Support from Koru’s venture studio, giving you access to experts in tech, design, and product from Day 1.
DataBraid is headquartered in the UK and will have a fully remote/global team, supporting the Canadian market as our first commercial focus.
Sound like a fit? Let’s chat. We appreciate your interest in joining our journey—but only those moving forward in the process will be contacted.
