Cassadol has been a leading offering for smaller veterinary practices since 2020 while Equine MediRecord is used by trainers and racing authorities worldwide. We are expanding our core Development team on our Cassadol project and are actively seeking seasoned developers with over 5 years comprehensive experience in backend and/or frontend development. You will report to the Director of Software Development and be responsible for application development in React & TypeScript and/or C# .Net. Your skills should compliment our existing technology stack. This is a Calgary, Alberta-based local role. The office is in Phillips Park near Macleod Trail and Glenmore Trail SE. There will be eventual opportunity to work remotely periodically, but the primary base of operation will be in office. Salary: $130,000+ CAD per year MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: Contribute to the development of innovative features and software solutions that meet and exceed the needs of our customers. Adhere to best practices and standards for coding. Provide technical leadership and expertise, offering support to developers in navigating complex problem-solving scenarios and making critical architectural decisions. Engage in active collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product owners, to meticulously plan and define comprehensive user stories, ensuring they are in alignment with overarching project objectives. Lead and contribute to the delivery of software projects utilizing the SCRUM methodology, with a strict adherence to project timelines, quality standards, and budgetary guidelines. Effectively communicate project progress to stakeholders, proactively identifying potential risks and devising strategies to mitigate them. Conduct thorough post-project evaluations to pinpoint areas for improvement and spearhead the implementation of corrective measures, as necessary. Oversee and enhance quality assurance processes, aiming to achieve software excellence and maximize customer satisfaction. Fulfill additional responsibilities as necessitated by the role. CORE REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: Strong experience in either React & Typescript or C# and the .Net framework. Proven ability to generate novel ideas and implement innovative software solutions. Strong leadership and people skills Solid understanding of software development methodologies, best practices, and quality assurance processes. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Self-driven and proactive mindset, and the ability to jump into ambiguous situations without being prompted. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong critical thinking skills and willing to investigate any issue related to the software. Desire to learn and evolve into a full stack developer. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in Database Management Systems including PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Elasticsearch Knowledge of cloud services, particularly in the AWS ecosystem including CDK, ApolloSync, AWS Lambda’s, Amazon SQS queues. Experience with GraphQL API’s either as a backend developer or consuming them on the frontend. Knowledge and understanding of code versioning tools such as GIT. Knowledge in Scrum / Agile processes. Experience in the veterinary industry MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, & EXPERIENCE: At least 5 years experience in backend and/or frontend development in some or all the technologies specified above.
