Duolingo, Inc. seeks multiple Senior Software Engineers, Music (Pittsburgh, PA) to contribute in building software technology that changes how people around the world learn Music. Partner with engineers and designers to prioritize, design, and implement features to develop core music skills, light sight reading and ear training in a fun, engaging way. Build new products and features to create new methods of teaching Music on mobile devices. Collaborate on various software projects with product design and backend aspects. Develop, release, and maintain native iOS applications, primarily in Swift. Provide technical direction and architecture guidance for junior engineers across the company. Local telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.

Job Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or related field, and 3 years of experience in a software engineering or related position. Must have 3 years of experience in the following: iOS mobile application development using Swift; iOS SDK performance tools and optimization techniques; Programming in Swift; Multithreaded programming techniques; Designing clean and maintainable APIs; and Writing unit tests and testable code. Must have knowledge or coursework in: Algorithms; Data structures; Software design; and Programming languages such as Python or Java.
