Senior Software Engineer (Remote) – Administration for Children and Families (ACF) - Office of Head Start (OHS) Position Overview: Ellumen, a leading IT services provider, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team supporting the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) and the Office of Head Start (OHS). As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable cloud infrastructure and DevSecOps practices. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that infrastructure solutions meet OHS goals, security standards, and performance objectives. Additionally, you will help optimize deployment pipelines, automate infrastructure tasks, and drive continuous improvement within OHS’s software development and deployment lifecycle. This is a remote position, offering flexibility while supporting a mission-driven environment. Demonstarted experience in human centered-design principles and 508 compliance are required for this role. Key Responsibilities: Cloud Infrastructure Management: Design, configure, and maintain cloud infrastructure, including Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) providers. Oversee shared services like central authentication tools and internal data APIs. Provide expertise and support to teams for infrastructure-related tasks and software deployment into the hosted environment. DevSecOps Implementation & Automation: Lead the design and automation of DevSecOps practices, including deployment pipelines, continuous integration (CI), and continuous delivery (CD). Align DevSecOps practices with security standards and industry best practices, ensuring compliance and securing software deployments. Develop and automate processes for dependency management, task tracking, and CI/CD pipeline components. Collaboration & Technical Leadership: Collaborate with OHS leadership to scale and enhance infrastructure across multiple systems. Establish and enforce technical standards for code deployed to OHS infrastructure, ensuring high-quality, consistent deployments. Support the successful and secure release of applications, ensuring compliance with security and documentation requirements. Health Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Conduct ongoing health monitoring of cloud infrastructure and applications, ensuring continuous service availability and optimal system performance. Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues promptly to minimize service disruption. Documentation & Process Improvement: Create and maintain up-to-date technical documentation on infrastructure configurations, deployment processes, and operational best practices for OHS applications. Continuously assess and improve infrastructure processes to enhance performance, efficiency, and overall system reliability. Metrics & Performance Tracking: Define and track key performance metrics such as deployment frequency, uptime, and system performance, in collaboration with OHS teams. Use data-driven insights to optimize infrastructure processes and drive continuous improvement within the ecosystem. Customer Support & Collaboration: Provide support to OHS product teams by answering infrastructure-related questions, troubleshooting issues, and assisting with system migration efforts. Foster collaboration between teams to promote the adoption of shared services and best practices within OHS. Please note that the duties listed above are not exhaustive, and the successful candidate may be required to perform additional tasks as needed Qualifications: Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in DevSecOps, software engineering, or a related field, with a deep understanding of cloud technologies and infrastructure management. Proven experience configuring cloud hosting tools (IaaS, PaaS) and implementing DevSecOps practices. Technical Skills: Expertise in deploying applications to production environments and maintaining system health, performance, and reliability. Proficiency with continuous integration, continuous deployment (CI/CD), and DevOps tools. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation tools, and security best practices. Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, leadership, and stakeholders. Comfortable working in Agile environments and adhering to iterative development methodologies. Education & Certifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Certifications in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, along with DevOps certifications, are preferred.
