As a Senior Web Developer, you’ll lead the development of websites and applications from concept to launch. You thrive in a collaborative environment, enjoy mentoring junior developers, and have a strong understanding of technical strategy. You’re great under pressure and thrive working on tight deadlines.
The ideal Senior Web Developer for this position has extensive experience with WordPress theming, templates, and custom plugins. You’ve also built and maintained websites using frameworks such as WordPress, CodeIgniter, and Laravel. Our themes are custom-built with the Roots Sage WordPress starter theme, utilizing PHP/Blade, SCSS, JavaScript, and Yarn to compile assets. You’ll be comfortable diving into both front-end composition and backend troubleshooting with the support of your team.
Our ideal candidate is not only a skilled developer but also a great communicator. You excel at explaining technical concepts in simple terms to non-developers and enjoy helping others grow in their technical understanding. A deep understanding of WordPress plugin architecture, MySQL, and how WordPress organizes data is preferred.

Responsibilities:
Lead the development of websites and web applications from start to finish.
Mentor junior developers and contribute to team growth through code reviews.
Design and optimize scalable systems, ensuring high performance and reliability.
Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers and project managers, to ensure projects meet client needs and technical best practices.
Troubleshoot complex issues, analyze error logs, and optimize site performance.
Keep website performance ranked high on Google Lighthouse through continuous optimization.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience with PHP.
5+ years of experience with WordPress, including custom theming, plugin development, and troubleshooting.
Expert knowledge of front-end technologies (SCSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Twitter Bootstrap) and back-end architecture (PHP, MySQL).
Proficiency with Git on the command line and familiarity with Git workflows.
Experience with modern development tools, including Yarn and Gulp.
Knowledge of MVC frameworks such as Laravel and CodeIgniter.
Understanding of domain management, DNS, and SSL.
Familiarity with Blade templating.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with Vue.js or other modern JavaScript frameworks
Experience with server infrastructure management, including website hosting, SSL management, and WordPress updates
Experience launching websites and transferring sites between servers
Experience with managing web development projects
Experience with leading web development teams
Ability to manage DevOps tasks and server-side troubleshooting is a plus
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
Strong collaboration and leadership abilities, with a track record of mentoring junior developers
Ability to work independently and lead complex projects from inception to deployment
