Job Title: Senior/Lead Engineer - Elasticsearch, AWS, JavaScript/TypeScript

My client, a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation, is seeking a Senior/Lead Engineer to join their team. This is a rare opportunity to take on a leadership role, influence the technical direction, and make a real impact on large-scale production systems.

As a Senior Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, developing, and managing my client’s critical systems. With a focus on Elasticsearch, AWS architecture, and software development, this position offers a mix of hands-on technical work and mentoring responsibilities.

What You'll Do:

• Mentor/lead a talented team, guiding professional growth and fostering collaboration.
• Dive deep into Elasticsearch, optimising and deploying it in complex, production environments.
• Architect and manage robust AWS solutions using key services such as Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, and ElastiCache.
• Develop scalable and efficient code – my client uses JavaScript/TypeScript, but they value engineers with a flexible, problem-solving mindset.
• Collaborate on the design and delivery of highly available, scalable production systems.

What You Bring:

• 5+ years’ experience in senior-level engineering roles with expertise in the following:
  • Elasticsearch – a deep understanding is essential.
  • Hands-on experience running and supporting production systems.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS services; certification is a bonus.
  • Exceptional software development skills, particularly with JavaScript/TypeScript (or similar languages).
  • Experience in line management or mentoring.
  • AWS system design/architecture experience is highly desirable.
• A proactive attitude, leadership skills, and a passion for driving innovation.
