Summary The Social Development Officer plays a crucial role in promoting and implementing social development initiatives within the mosque or community. This position involves assessing social needs, designing, and implementing programmes, and monitoring their effectiveness. The Social Development Officer collaborates with various stakeholders to address social issues, improve community well-being, and enhance the quality of life for individuals and groups. Primary Duties · Identify social needs, challenges, and opportunities within the target population or community. · Develop and implement social development programmes, initiatives, and interventions based on identified needs and goals. · Work closely with District’s social development stakeholders and staff authorities · Collaborate with community organisations, government agencies, NGOs, and other relevant stakeholders to foster partnerships and ensure effective programme implementation. · Identify and secure funding opportunities through grants, sponsorships, and partnerships to support social development initiatives. · Establish monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the impact and effectiveness of social development programmes, and make necessary adjustments for continuous improvement. · Provide training, workshops, and educational resources to empower individuals and communities to address social challenges and enhance their resilience. · Collect, analyse, and report data on social indicators, programme outcomes, and community needs to inform decision-making and policy development. · Contribute to the development of social policies and strategies that address systemic issues and promote social inclusion. · Keep abreast of current social development trends, research, and best practices to ensure the implementation of evidence-based approaches. · Managing volunteers, allocating resources, and ensuring proper documentation and reporting. · Raise awareness about social issues, and gather community members to take collective action towards positive change Secondary Duties · Promote and support innovative and creative ways to generate income including fundraising initiatives and external funding via grants and sponsorship to ensure the ongoing sustainability of the unit and projects · Provide support in District-based activities and initiatives · Provide support in mosque event’s operations and manpower requirements · Provide support in department’s collective initiatives, implementations and recommend plans for improvement Requirements · Diploma/Degree in Social Work, Sociology or a related field, or 5-years of relevant working experience · Possess leadership skills, excellent communication skills, problem solving skills, interpersonal skills and can work independently · Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively. · Strong understanding of social issues, community dynamics, and development principles · Passion for community building and making a positive impact
