Job Description J2 Interactive is looking for qualified candidates to help us with web application development projects of various sizes. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate significant experience developing high-quality web applications. He or she will be responsible for implementing web applications from start to finish, with an appreciation for strong design, maintainable code, and smart development / deployment process. Depending on the project, you may be working closely with UX designers and/or back-end developers; or, if you can demonstrate either of those additional skill sets, you can expect to be given the chance to use them. We won't pigeonhole you if you've got the ability and the interest. Most of our work is in the healthcare space, and our web projects are a mix of internal applications for end users (physicians, nurses, hospital administrators, data analysts, etc.) and patient-facing portals. This is an industry where the bar for user experience has not traditionally been high. It's our goal to raise that bar by combining the latest innovations in web development with clean, professional-grade application design. When it comes to UX, you don't have to be a graphic designer, but you need to show that you know how to build usable interfaces that impress without coming across as flashy or gimmicky. Though our headquarters is located in Charlestown (Boston), MA, this is a telecommuting position open to anyone who's eligible to work in the US. Skills Description In short we're looking for people who approach web application projects with a high degree of creativity and a professional software developer's mindset. A computer science background, experience building commercial-grade web applications, and fluency with one or more major database technologies will lend significant credibility to your resume. The most important qualities we're looking for are: 3+ years of experience in mobile application development focusing on React Native Understanding of JavaScript and TypeScript Experience with native mobile development Fluency with HTML, HTML5, CSS, DOM, JSON, JQuery, and XML RESTful and micro service development experience in .NET, Java, or node.js Demonstrated understanding of mobile and responsive design High comfort level with database design and architecture High comfort level with source code control, continuous integration and continuous delivery Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work directly with clients Other stuff that is desirable, but not strictly necessary: Healthcare experience Cloud services experience with Azure and/or AWS Expertise in SQL Prior experience with the InterSystems technology platform (Caché Objects, CSP, and Zen) Familiarity with agile development methodologies As we say in all of our listings, most of all we want people who are smart, creative, and fearless.
