About Helinks

Helinks is a software development and consulting company based in Berlin, Germany. Since 2007, we’ve been dedicated to building innovative tools for device-independent, top-down engineering of IEC 61850-based systems. As an active member of IEC Technical Committee 57 WG10, we contribute to the ongoing evolution of the IEC 61850 standard, helping shape the future of power system automation.

We develop cutting-edge IEC 61850 system tools for Utilities, System Integrators, IED manufacturers, and Research Institutions. Our flagship product, Helinks STS, is the leading IEC 61850 System Configuration Tool on the market.

Beyond our standard solutions, we offer custom tool development based on the modular architecture of Helinks STS, allowing us to tailor software to specific customer needs. Additionally, we provide expert consulting and training to support IEC 61850 adoption and implementation.

About the Role

We’re looking for a full-time Software Developer (Java) to join our team. This is a fully remote position, but you must be based in Germany.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Developing and maintaining our Java-based software products
• Enhancing and extending our Eclipse RCP and OSGi-based architecture
• Collaborating with a small, agile team to design and implement major new features (not just bug fixes!)
• Debugging and improving our existing codebase
• Communicating effectively—checking in regularly, asking for help when needed, and staying engaged

What We’re Looking For

✅ Must-have skills:

• Proficiency in Java (strong software design and development skills)
• Fluent English (for internal communication and documentation)
• Ability to read, understand, and debug complex codebases
• Strong communication skills (we value transparency and teamwork)

✅ Nice-to-have skills (not required, but a plus!):

• Formal education in Computer Science/Software Development
• Front-end/UI/UX development experience
• Experience with Eclipse RCP, Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF), OSGi
• Knowledge of IEC61850 or the power industry
