SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER American Eagle Outfitters’ Pittsburgh, PA, office seeks a Software Development Engineer. This is a fully remote position, and the employee can work from anywhere in the United States. The Software Development Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining applications using microservice technologies in Python and Java programming languages. Specific duties include: (i) contributing to the development of a scalable solution of shipment planning and edge delivery; (ii) supporting integration with the freight planning system and fulfillment platform; (iii) writing a technical design document for the components including the cross functional, sequence and deployment diagrams; (iv) developing comprehensive unit and integration test cases to adhere to high code quality standards; (v) cloud monitoring and alerting; (vi) working in an agile environment applying SDLC principles and SCRUM methodologies utilizing JIRA, Wiki, Bitbucket GitHub and/or Bamboo; and (vii) participating in cross-functional team meetings to design the interfaces for REST apis and file-based integration. This is a fully remote position, and the employee can work from anywhere in the United States. Must have a master’s degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in Computer Science or related field and one year of experience in a related position. Must have one year of experience monitoring software performance and cpu utilization. Must have any experience with: (i) object-oriented programming languages (Java or Python); (ii) integration and System testing APIs such as Prisma; (iii) developing and executing test plans, test cases and test scripts; (iv) Terraform; and (v) Grafana dashboard building tool. Must have knowledge of: (I) optimization algorithms and distributed systems design principles. (ii) database and storage (MS SQL server and/or NOSQL); (iii) software engineering concepts, such as agile methodologies; and (iv) IDEs and VCS. Experience can be concurrent.
