This position focuses on developing and maintaining server-side systems and APIs, ensuring seamless communication and functionality across various layers of the stack. This role involves collaborating with front-end and infrastructure teams to deliver scalable, robust solutions while optimizing backend performance. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports to the VP Operations RESPONSIBILITIES: Design, develop, and maintain back-end systems and APIs primarily using Python, ensuring high performance and scalability. Collaborate with front-end and data teams to deliver seamless integrations and end-to-end features. Solve complex problems in Python and related back-end technologies, focusing on data processing, API development, and system architecture. Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure code quality and maintainability. Research and recommend new tools, frameworks, and processes to improve backend efficiency and developer productivity. Mentor junior developers and contribute to a collaborative, growth-oriented engineering culture. MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: 5+ years of experience as a backend software engineer or in a related role. Proficiency in Python and familiarity with its common frameworks (e.g., Flask, FastAPI, Django). Basic knowledge or interest in learning TypeScript and Node.js. Familiarity with RESTful APIs, database design (SQL/NoSQL), and system performance optimization. Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Kubernetes. Knowledge of AWS Lambda and Serverless Framework is a plus, with a willingness to learn if no prior experience exists. Basic knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure best practices. Experience with writing unit and integration tests for backend systems. Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
