Position Purpose:
A Software Engineer is responsible for designing and developing software applications but more importantly assisting the team in their technical efforts. They perform coding, debugging, and troubleshooting along with assisting other engineers in these tasks. They will spend the majority of their time ensuring team members are on track with tasks and are using proper coding techniques as well as providing training and mentoring to lower-level engineers. A Software Engineer reports to a team member at the senior management level. Software Engineers can work independently or with any level of the engineering team. Software Engineers will develop software and contribute technically in many ways but are also responsible for creating and encouraging good software development practices team-wide, driving strategic technical improvements, and mentoring engineers from the team. Tasks can range from self-driven with guidance of senior management to project work defined independently, assigned from management, or project management. Assigned tasks can range from basic software development or bug fixes to department wide systematic changes.
Education & Experience:
8+ years' related experience required.
Bachelor's degree in related field (Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, etc.) is required.
Experience with C#, .NET Framework, MongoDB, Azure, Kafka, Confluent, and WebRTC is required.
Experience with SignalR, ES6 JavaScript (ECMAScript), SPA frameworks, Teamcity, Wireshark, Code Turn, SQL Postgre, and Docker is preferred.
Able to communicate effectively with peers and internal teams

Able to lead teams in technical direction and assist Tech Leads/Project Managers with workload planning and distribution

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
Evaluate existing processes and procedures to identify areas that need optimization
Assess the efficiency of technologies, tools and packages
Build, set up, and improve systems, procedures, and application code
Collaborate across Engineering department on projects and prototypes
Define cost and timeline estimates for development work
Collect and interpret analytical and performance data, as well as prepare progress reports
Translate business requirements to technical specifics and develop software architecture and design based on product requirements
Keep up to date on the latest industry technologies and solutions, validate the software developed and debug code issues.
Program for Windows and Linux targets.
Use various software tools on workstations in typical software development environments
Understand software principals, theories and concepts related to software engineering including:
Software development lifecycle and software development process
Object-oriented analysis, design, and programming
Unit testing experience and in-depth knowledge of test-driven development concepts
Design patterns and how to implement them
Troubleshooting and debugging strategies and best practices
Support internal and external customers for software in testing and production environments
Coordinate with other team members on projects using a variety of communication methods such as email, video conferencing, and instant messaging
Support lower-level engineers and help mentor them on their career path
Provide feedback to staff's direct-line management regarding performance and development
