About Us
Index is at the forefront of risk mitigation and management for our food system. Index has created BioTags , an enabling technology that has a dual purpose: 1) to enable "penetration testing" for food manufacturers, and 2) to serve as a microscopic passport for global commodity trade-linking physical goods to their digital twins. This technology addresses risks and inefficiencies in supply chains while enabling market-leading financial products.
We are looking for a Software Engineer who thrives at the intersection of manufacturing, commodity trade, and risk. This role will play a critical part in developing scalable, secure, and user-friendly AI-first platforms that power our solutions across both businesses.
What You'll Do
Develop Scalable Platforms: Build and maintain robust systems to support BioTag data, contamination simulation tools, and Authentica's supply chain risk management platform.
API Development: Design and integrate with APIs for seamless integration with partner ecosystems, ensuring interoperability and scalability.
Data Integration: Create and optimize systems to ingest, process, and visualize large datasets from IoT devices, BioTags , and partner platforms.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, machine learning, and business teams to ensure alignment between technology and strategic goals.
Security and Compliance: Implement best practices for data security, especially for sensitive supply chain and food safety data.
Innovate Modular Solutions: Develop modular, reusable components that can support diverse use cases for Authentica and Index Bio.
Who You Are
Technical Expertise:5+ years of experience in software engineering, preferably in SaaS or data-intensive platforms.
Bachelor's or Master's degree (preferred) in Computer Science or equivalent from a top-tier North American university or working experience at a FAANG or Big Tech equivalent company.
Proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Python, PHP, or JavaScript) and frameworks (e.g., Laravel, Vue3).
Master of modern AI-enabled development workflows (e.g., Cursor and Devin.AI).
Experience with cloud platforms like AWS.
Expertise with DevOps best practices, git workflows, containerization (Docker), and CI/CD pipelines.
Problem Solver: Curious with a passion for solving complex challenges with a focus on scalability, reliability, and user experience.
Data-Driven: Proficiency working with and developing data pipelines and visualization tools to support analytics and decision-making.
Agile Mindset: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, evolving environment, balancing multiple priorities.
Mission-Aligned: Excited about transforming the food sector and global commodity trade with innovative technologies.
