Education Advanced Inc. is developing applications that help make the job of test coordination, budget planning, staffing, scheduling, and curriculum development more efficient. Education Advanced, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer IV to join a team designing and building features for one or more products in our Ed Tech portfolio. We are DevOps champions, so this developer will be expected to help automate testing, deployment, monitoring, and support. Successful candidates will have a deep understanding of best engineering practices for the full software development life cycle (SDLC), including coding standards, code review, source control, build, test, deploy, and operations. QUALIFICATIONS: Roles and Responsibilities Develop, enhance, and maintain features within the Evaluation product using Ruby 3.2.2 and Rails 7.1.3.4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features. Optimize database operations, leveraging MySQL to ensure reliable and scalable data management. Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to promote coding best practices and maintain code quality. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve performance issues within the application, ensuring a smooth user experience. Qualifications and Education Requirements Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar Required Skills: 6+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails (experience with Ruby 3.x and Rails 7.x preferred). Knowledge of frontend technologies, including JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, and any modern frameworks (React, Vue, etc.). Proficiency in MySQL database design, queries, and optimization. Familiarity with cloud-based environments (AWS preferred). Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services. Experience in test-driven development and building secure, scalable applications. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Nice to Haves Experience in the EdTech industry or with SaaS products. Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices, such as Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
