About the Role
At Football Radar, we analyse and predict football matches. Our software engineering team is responsible for helping build and maintain the software that makes that possible - everything from modern web applications to statistical models, real time data platforms to cloud infrastructure.
As the leader of this team, you will:
Manage, motivate and mentor a high-performing software engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects
Develop the team's technical roadmap
Support the recruitment and retention of our software engineers
Help set the strategic direction for the software engineering team, balancing technical and business demands
Oversee the maintenance and support of existing software systems
This role is based at our London office, at 1 Craven Hill, London, W2 3EN. You will have flexibility to work from home one day a week. But please note we are not considering remote candidates at the moment.
Role Requirements
We are first and foremost a football company, and to have a big impact here, it will help if you have domain expertise – you will probably be a big football fan, and ideally someone who is comfortable with the mathematical and statistical approaches we are applying to the game. If you have any experience with sports betting or football analytics that is a bonus.

Experienced software engineer
2+ years experience as a technical manager or team lead
A strategic mindset, and a successful project management track record
A passion for developing and mentoring members of your team
Well-versed in working with distributed systems and microservice architectures in the cloud
Willing to work across our tech stack: Scala, Python, C++, Typescript and PHP.
Experience in building
Thrives on responsibility and ownership
Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills
