CAREER OPPORTUNITY.
Reporting to the VP of Data Services, the SQL Server DBA/Developer at Phillips & Cohen Associates is at the core of maintaining and optimizing our database systems for our U.S. and Canadian offices, ensuring their reliability, security, and performance. This role is ideal for analytical professionals with a passion for solving complex technical challenges and working collaboratively to support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Among other responsibilities, you’ll primarily:
Administer, maintain, and manage Microsoft SQL Server instances and databases.
Analyze and resolve database inefficiencies, proposing and implementing solutions.
Develop, implement, upgrade, and maintain database environments, including weekend management as required.
Design and implement data warehouses across SQL Server and in-house applications.
Create and optimize SSIS packages to meet business needs using multiple data sources.
Perform SQL Server database performance tuning, index optimization, and server patching.
Document processes and procedures for database platforms.
Support and guide team members, ensuring collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Develop robust processes and controls to mitigate risks during the collections cycle.

WHAT IT TAKES TO BE AN IDEAL CANDIDATE.
5-6 years DBA experience, preferably in the financial industry.
Expertise in MS SQL Server technologies (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, T-SQL).
Proven experience in a dedicated DBA role, managing on-premises SQL Server environments.
Strong knowledge of relational database architecture and schema design.
Proficiency in T-SQL, including creating and optimizing stored procedures, triggers, and functions.
Hands-on experience with High Availability and Disaster Recovery technologies (e.g., Replication).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide actionable recommendations.
Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
Ability to gather and interpret business requirements for database solutions.
Adaptability to learn new skills and technologies.
WORK SCHEDULE.
This is a full-time remote position, requiring 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Additionally, monthly weekend duties may be necessary (typically once per month) to manage upgrades, maintenance, and security updates.
Despite the remote nature of the job, applicants must be physically located in the provinces of Quebec or Ontario to be considered.
