Job Description: DataDirect Networks, Inc. (DDN) is seeking a Sr. Firmware Engineer. This is a remote position and reports to the Sr. Director - Flash Products. DataDirect Networks, Inc. (DDN) is seeking a Sr. Firmware Engineer to contribute to the development of innovative flash storage products for tomorrow’s AI, HPC, Enterprise, and Cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with embedded systems firmware development, particularly in storage and non-volatile memory technologies. This individual will work closely with hardware and software teams to deliver world-class storage solutions for high-performance computing (HPC) and AI workloads. Key Responsibilities: Develop and optimize firmware for cutting-edge flash storage products, ensuring high performance and reliability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product specifications and deliver firmware solutions that meet product roadmap goals. Work closely with hardware engineers on integration and validation of firmware with non-volatile memory technologies. Drive firmware development through the full product lifecycle, from concept to production, ensuring seamless release cycles. Participate in agile teams, using tools such as Jira, and contribute to iterative development processes. Identify and resolve firmware-related issues, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality solutions. Ensure all field issues are addressed efficiently, working in collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams. Provide input on system-level design decisions, ensuring optimal performance and integration of firmware solutions with hardware components. Stay current with the latest trends in flash storage and non-volatile memory technologies, applying this knowledge to product innovations. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field (Master’s degree is a plus). 8+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, particularly in storage systems and non-volatile memory. Proven track record of delivering high-performance firmware solutions for enterprise or HPC storage products. Strong knowledge of NAND flash technology, storage architectures, and non-volatile memory systems. Hands-on experience with debugging tools and methodologies for embedded systems. Proficiency in agile development processes and experience working with geographically distributed teams. Experience using Jira for managing and tracking development tasks. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with experience working across multiple teams and disciplines.
