Join our Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer to empowerour customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. DTS has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:
Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state and operations for EDC’s 2030 business transformation.
Establish & manage a rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap to achieve our technology goals.
Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to support Canadian global trade.
Lead integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations for excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.
About the Role:
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, implement, and support technical/software development and deployment activities for EDC’s customer-facing digital services. These services support all EDC lines of business, including finance, insurance, lending, corporate services, information products, marketing, and sales.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, code, test, and customize business-IT solutions for internal and external clients.
Collaborate with agile team members to craft user stories, design tests, and deliver product enhancements.
Participate in code reviews and communicate with developers across delivery teams.
Support non-technical team members in understanding technical design implications.
Develop secure solutions considering business context, failure modes, monitoring, compliance, and security.
Determine systems software design requirements and ensure successful implementation of improvements.
Generate systems software engineering policies, standards, and procedures.
Apply best practices and advanced methodologies, including Scrum techniques.
Review and analyze existing systems to develop improvement strategies.
Lead complex technical support issues and solution lifecycle management.
Conduct project artifact reviews and coordinate system and user change readiness.
Lead the deployment of solutions to production, ensuring security (DevSecOps).
Transition solutions to operations/support with up-to-date documentation and knowledge bases.
Investigate new technology opportunities for forward planning and aid in project estimation.
Provide technical leadership and strategic direction in software testing, focusing on test automation.
Screening Criteria:
Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Management Information Systems, or equivalent education and work experience.
Minimum 7 years of experience in IT systems development or related roles.
Relevant experience in agile delivery.
Knowledge of cloud services and on-premises systems development and implementation.
Strong ability to translate business questions and requirements into technical solutions.
Strong analytical skills with experience in technical problem solving and risk analysis.
Functional knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials modules, and possess the ability to build complex queries in PeopleSoft.
Ability to quickly ramp up on client-specific applications and tools.
Ability to identify issues, risks and provide options analysis.
Understanding of SDLC and Agile Methodology.
Assets:
Background in Finance/Accounting processes.
Experience with BI Tools (PowerBI, Oracle BI, Cognos).
Full-stack development experience.
Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
Experience working with relational or NoSQL databases.
Proficiency with React and Angular JavaScript.
Exposure to Lean Methodologies.
Bilingual in French and English.
Compensation Details:
Software Engineer 18: Salaries typically range from $92,355 to $123,140 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
Location
Ottawa, Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Laval, Brossard, Halifax, Calgary, or Vancouver (Hybrid Work Environment) with relocation assistance available to eligible candidates.
