8+ years of software engineering experience at a digital marketing company, with a strong understanding of industry-specific challenges and best practices
Skills: PHP, Wordpress, MySQL and/or PostgresSQL, HTML, CSS, git
Experience making data-driven decisions with A/B testing tools and analytics
Demonstrated ability to translate requests from non-technical colleagues into technical requirements and roadmaps

SEO optimization experience, with proven ability to measure and report effectiveness
Systems administration experience, with an ability to manage server configurations, hosting, and security for high-traffic sites
DevOps, including version control, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment
Experience leading technical teams, either in a direct managerial or senior technical lead role, with a track record of mentoring and guiding individuals and the team
Experience managing outsourced development teams or working with vendor-provided resources

Role
This role is ideal for a software engineer who loves leveraging technology to thoroughly solve problems and is excited about influencing company-wide direction to elevate our capabilities.
The Staff Software Engineer is the most senior technical position at the company. They are responsible for the performance and reliability of our entire portfolio of 2,000+ websites, on-time delivery of new client websites, and working cross-functionally to improve company operations through technology.
You’ll have ownership over the technology, but you’ll also have strong support: the company is owned and managed by veteran Silicon Valley entrepreneurs who’ve held engineering and product leadership roles at Apple and Facebook.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & StrategyServe as the primary technical expert, guiding strategic decisions around WordPress, internal tools, and overall tech strategy. Collaborate with the rest of the team to ensure high-quality code and timely delivery.
Project & Portfolio ManagementLead the on-time delivery of new client websites, oversee the development lifecycle and work to streamline processes and improve team efficiency.
WordPress DevelopmentOversee the development, maintenance, and enhancement of our extensive WordPress portfolio, ensuring each site is optimized for performance, reliability, and SEO.
Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with the SEO team to run experiments and update our sites to enhance visibility and search performance. Partner with other departments to drive improvements in business operations through technology.
Systems Administration & DevOpsManage WordPress administration tasks, including version control, deployment pipelines, and server optimizations. Maintain high standards for security, uptime, and system reliability across our portfolio.
Future Growth & InnovationDrive initiatives that advance the technical capabilities of the company. Identify opportunities to scale and streamline internal operations with technology.
