This position is remote and open to applicants in Europe!
Join Luah and their companions on a journey from shallow waters to the depths of the ocean in their mission to help the environment. Explore the fantasy underwater world, bond with the expedition members and engage in non-violent encounters with other inhabitants, as our our protagonists are some of the smallest creatures in their world!
Sunken Castle is an international, fully remote team / startup studio, and we're working on a demo for our first game! It's a 3D narrative-heavy non-violent adventure game originally inspired by games like Journey, and the key is to create an exciting adventure without violence.
Sunken Castle is currently a team of 10 diverse game developers, situated all around the world (mostly in Europe). We use English as our working language. The aim is to create an amazing new studio with many voices telling empowering stories.
IMPORTANT: Currently the project has no funding, so the development happens on a volunteer basis until the funding is secured, after which the founding team will be properly employed (full-time or otherwise based on each member). There is also a possibility to receive shares in the future company depending on your involvement before and after founding. Until company founding the team has agreed to a 20h/month working minimum, and we can accommodate anything from few hours a week to part-time and almost full-time. There is also a commitment to weekly team meetings, the times for which are decided every week by a time poll, and include multiple time slots to accommodate different time zones and lifestyles.
Responsibilities
As a Gameplay Programmer you would help us make this underwater adventure possible. In a smaller team you will get to influence many areas of the development even outside your core responsibility. Design decisions are often being discussed with the whole team, and the team can make suggestions, give feedback and provide ideas for any other discipline, with the respect to the owner of the discipline. You will be a key factor in bringing the demo to life before searching for funding.
