As a User Interface Developer, you will be part of a team providing ongoing UI development support for the www.census.gov platform. You will be integrating with other systems, evolving the user interface based on customer feedback and needs, and ensuring Section 508 compliance.
Responsibilities:
Provide user experience recommendations and incorporate them into the www.census.gov user interface
Integrate front-end with www.census.gov to provide a consistent user experience, including text search, quick answer, business rules engine, etc.
Support integration of the front-end into Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or similar tools/technologies as needed
Develop multi-browser support for www.census.gov, ensuring compatibility with Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge
Implement a componentized approach for all front-end services
Enable personalization features, including user interface development and integration with existing authentication, authorization services, and personalization services
Enhance table features, including user interface enhancements and integration
Develop proof of concept(s) and prototypes/tools for internal stakeholders, exploring data joins, table view, web maps, and relevancy solutions as directed
Provide SEO support to identify a SEO approach for promoting Census Bureau content via public search engine results
Enhance web mapping user interface functionality and design
Requirements
US Citizenship and ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
3+ years of experience in UI development, with expertise in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and related technologies
Proficiency in AEM or similar tools/technologies, as well as knowledge of front-end development best practices and design principles
Experience with Section 508 compliance and multi-browser support (e.g., Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge)
Strong understanding of personalization features, including user interface development and integration with existing services
Familiarity with table features, including sorting downloading, etc.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Effective communication and project management skills
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Certification in UI development (e.g., Certified User Experience Designer) or a related field
Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git)
Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins)
Knowledge of SEO principles and best practices
