Overview

The VP, Business Development is responsible for supporting the development of corporate strategic plans, leading and executing business development efforts which result in meeting revenue targets and increase profitability. This individual will report to the Sr. VP, Growth & Strategy.


Responsibilities

  • Create and implement strategic plans to drive business growth and market expansion.
  • Identify new business opportunities and markets to pursue.
  • Forge and maintain relationships with potential partners, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Negotiate and finalize agreements, contracts, and collaborations.
  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify trends, competitors, and potential areas for growth.
  • Use data-driven insights to make informed business decisions.
  • Execute sales strategies to meet revenue targets and increase profitability.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development team providing guidance, support, and motivation.
  • Collaborate with P&L Leads and internal teams to identify and develop new
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking forums to enhance its visibility and reputation.
  • Support other duties as assigned.

Skills and Competencies

  • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field. A master's degree is often preferred.
  • 20 years of progressive experience in business development with a minimum of 10 years in the defense and/or aerospace industry.
  • Strong understanding of the DoD and Intelligence communities, technical trends, and competition.
  • Extensive experience with DoD JADC2 and similar initiatives for example the ABMS and Joint Fires Network programs.
  • 5 years' experience with integration of C5ISR systems onto military platforms
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams, driving performance and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in analyzing data, drawing insights, and making strategic decisions based on findings.
  • Ability to think critically and develop innovative strategies to achieve business objectives.
  • Ability to communicate verbal and in writing with internal and external executive and military senior leadership.

Additional Requirements

  • Travel: Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as needed, for business meetings, conferences, and client engagements. Expected to be NLT 35% of the time
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, evolving business environment and work effectively under pressure.
