Job Summary: The Web Developer will oversee the development and management of web
development-focused initiatives from conception to completion. This role coordinates multiple
projects, ensures effective communication across multiple teams and maintains a user-centric and
standards compliant approach to web development. As the primary contact for web development
projects at NASPO, this role utilizes strong problem-solving skills, development skills and a
commitment to collaboration to understand the unique challenges and goals of other teams, translate
those goals into actionable development tasks, and ultimately deliver solutions that help reach
those goals while aligning with best practices and NASPO Technology Team standard operating
procedures and processes.
Essential Functions:
Project management: Oversee multiple short-term and long-term web development- focused
initiatives (such as building new pages and/or extending the look and feel of existing sites with
new features and functionality)
Team coordination: Communicate effectively with team members across the organization, track
project statuses, reprioritize deadlines as necessary and provide guidance on workflow and existing
processes and procedures
Problem solving: Utilize critical thinking when researching, analyzing and developing
solutions to complex web development issues
User experience: Apply UX principles to ensure that web development-focused initiatives meet
user needs and enhance overall user experience
Process improvement: Analyze and update cross-departmental procedures to reduce
inefficiencies and improve project outcomes
Design guidance: Provide input and direction on web design, ensuring aligning with internal
client requirements, preferences and organization standards
Technology and trends: Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends to make sure web
development-focused initiatives align and comply as needed
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Not responsible for managing other team members
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
Proven experience working on web development projects that require gathering input from
multiple teams or stakeholders, and translating both ideas and design concepts/wireframes to
user-friendly, standards-compliant code
Proven experience and demonstratable skills with web applications, programming languages and
web services, including WordPress, API, CSS, HTML, Javascript, jQuery, PHP, REST, SOAP and web user
interface design
Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (including AWS Lightsail) and Cloudflare
Demonstrated ability to plan and organize multiple projects and meet deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills
Ability to work well individually and within a team environment
Strong customer service orientation and commitment to association values
