About the Role We are looking for a skilled and creative Web Developer to join our media company’s digital team. Key Responsibilities Website Development & Maintenance: Develop, maintain, and optimize websites and web applications, ensuring they are visually compelling, user-friendly, and accessible across devices. Collaborate with designers to translate wireframes, mockups, and UI/UX requirements into responsive, scalable code. Implement best practices for SEO, web performance, and accessibility, ensuring our digital properties meet industry standards. Content Management: Work with content creators and editors to manage content updates, new page creations, and media integrations within our CMS (e.g., WordPress, Drupal). Implement and configure plugins, themes, and third-party integrations to enhance site functionality and user experience. Support the digital team in developing custom templates, widgets, and other CMS functionalities as needed. Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Identify, debug, and resolve issues related to website functionality, performance, and security. Monitor site analytics, performance metrics, and user feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement optimizations. Ensure all web applications are secure, regularly updated, and compliant with industry security standards. Collaboration & Innovation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, marketing, and editorial, to bring creative concepts to life through interactive web experiences. Stay current with emerging web technologies, tools, and trends, recommending innovative solutions that enhance user engagement. Participate in brainstorming sessions to drive ideas for new features, content presentation, and site improvements. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in web development, ideally in a media, digital content, or entertainment environment. Technical Skills: Front-End: Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js, Angular). Back-End: Experience with server-side languages such as PHP, Python, or Node.js, and familiarity with web frameworks. CMS: Experience with content management systems, especially WordPress, Drupal, or other media-focused platforms. Version Control: Proficient with version control systems, such as Git. Database Management: Familiarity with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB. Responsive Design: Experience building responsive and mobile-first websites. Web Performance & Security: Knowledge of optimizing website speed, SEO, and web security best practices. Creative Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical issues. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to work effectively with non-technical team members. Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines.
