BSR is currently seeking proposals for a redesigned website with robust and effective member management software and a user-friendly interface. The BSR website was last significantly updated in 2019, and is currently based on the Drupal platform. Drupal provides many useful capabilities, and is a familiar environment for some BSR contributors, but its complexity has led to some significant maintenance costs. We would be happy to consider continuing with the Drupal platform, but are also open to considering other platforms.
The redesigned website should provide all of the functionality of the current site (though possibly with changes to the user interface), as well as certain enhancements, detailed below, to better support BSR’s mission.
Development work will be conducted off-site, as BSR does not have separate office space.
BSR will consider hosting (ISP) service options included as part of the proposal, and is also willing to contract for such services separately.
The BSR Executive Director, Ryan Mewhorter; Artistic Director, Brendon Shapiro; and volunteer staff are available to assist in migration of content from the current site to the new site.
Qualifications:
BSR will require a written proposal from candidate developers that includes, at a minimum:
? The background and experience of the company and participating developers
? The technology basis of the proposed solution (software tools, etc.)
? The proposed procedure for designing and implementing the new site. How will the work be
coordinated between the developers and BSR staff, managed by the Executive Director?
? The estimated time required to complete the project, with any intermediate stages.
? A description of any additional design elements that are not explicitly described or are described as optional in this document, which might help the website better serve BSR’s mission.
? A description of routine maintenance requirements (periodic upgrades, etc.) and an estimate of their costs.
? At least three references for similar projects successfully completed for organizations with needs similar to BSR.
? Examples of past work.
