Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Web Developer to lead the redesign and redevelopment of a public-facing government website. The role focuses on creating a modern, user-friendly, and high-performing website, while incorporating accessibility features aligned with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have experience with front-end and back-end development, CMS platforms, and optimizing websites for mobile compatibility and accessibility. Responsibilities: Redesign and develop a modern, responsive website with a focus on performance, usability, and scalability. Create and implement a new content architecture, navigation enhancements, and an updated sitemap. Develop dynamic features and functionalities while maintaining seamless integration with existing systems and applications. Optimize the website for mobile and desktop platforms, ensuring cross-browser compatibility and performance. Conduct testing to ensure all components function smoothly, including content updates, media displays, and navigation. Collaborate with accessibility specialists to address Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 AA (or greater) compliance requirements. Implement a content management system (CMS) or enhance the existing platform to support efficient updates and maintenance. Ensure a smooth transition to the new site, minimizing disruptions like broken links or errors. Provide technical documentation and assist with training materials for the OCS staff for post-launch operations. Requirements: Proven experience in web development, with expertise in front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks (e.g., React, Angular). Knowledge of back-end development, CMS platforms, and website migrations. Strong understanding of responsive design principles and mobile-first development. Familiarity with performance optimization techniques for websites, including caching, compression, and code minimization. Basic knowledge of accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG 2.0 AA or greater) and ability to collaborate with specialists to implement compliance. Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills to ensure a seamless user experience. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams. Preferred: Experience working on government or public-sector projects and familiarity with integrating legacy systems.
