Network Engineer


We are looking for a Network Engineer to be part of a team that designs, develops, and maintains functional and secure networks. In this role, you need to collaborate with others, have excellent problem-solving skills and thorough knowledge of network administration and architecture. This team is responsible for all routing, switching and wireless across the enterprise.




location: Madison, Wisconsin

job type: Contract

salary: $60 - 80 per hour

work hours: 8am to 5pm

education: Bachelors



responsibilities:


  • Deploy and maintain functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)
  • Configure, maintain and install software, switches, routers and other network devices
  • Monitor network performance and integrity
  • Resolve technical issues, often collaborating across teams to troubleshoot, resolve and determine root cause
  • Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
  • Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery)
  • Communicate with users and customers
  • Maintain complete technical documentation
  • Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability


qualifications:


  • Industry-related experience as a Network Engineer
  • Strong knowledge of Azure networking best practices, including hybrid connectivity and routing
  • Solid background in network topology and administration
  • Solid understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, EIGRP)
  • Familiarity with access control models and network security
  • Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g Python, Perl)
  • Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools (e.g. SolarWinds / Auvik network tools)
  • Solid understanding of network operating systems (Cisco IOS)



  • Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently
  • Ability to implement and troubleshoot Wi-FI and security infrastructure
  • Sharp troubleshooting skills



  • Ability to work independently
  • BS/BA/AD in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
