The Physician Contract Specialist is responsible for designing, facilitating, executing and leading all transactional elements of a high volume of Hoag physician contracts, including, but not limited to, hospital-based physician contracts, professional services contracts, call coverage contracts, medical/program director contracts, individual and group recruitment contracts, hospitalist contracts and other miscellaneous independent contractor contracts, as requested. Collaborates with senior level executives, in-house team members, Hoag Compliance Department and Hoag attorneys to expeditiously draft, amend, renew and terminate such contracts in compliance with Hoag policy, legal and regulatory requirements. Manages monthly reimbursement process and 1099 filings related to recruitment contracts. Creates, updates and maintains physician contract templates. Responsible for the selection, implementation and management of LegalFiles, a centralized, web-based application to streamline and automate the physician contracting process, as well as to serve as a repository for executed contracts. The Physician Contract Specialist educates team members to promote and maintain an effective physician contract process Primary Duties and Responsibilities Supports the legal team by managing contracts with health care providers. Responsible for creating, drafting, revising, amending, managing, and administering contracts, developing and managing internal contracting protocols, credentialing, compliance, and compensation. Ensures contracts meet all regulatory and legal requirements and align with organizational goals and policies. Prepare and review contracts for physicians, including employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, professional services agreements, and other related documentsNegotiate contract terms and conditions with physicians and other parties, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as internal policies and proceduresCoordinate with various departments, such as compliance, physician services, medical staff, human resources, finance, credentialing, and legal, to obtain necessary approvals and signatures for contractsMaintain and update the contract database and files, using Agiloft contract lifecycle management system to track contract status, expiration dates, renewals, amendments, and terminationsMonitor contract performance and compliance, and resolve any issues or disputes that may ariseProvide contract support and guidance to staff and answer contract-related inquiries or requestsConduct contract audits and analysis, and prepare reports and recommendations for contract improvement and optimizationPerform and manage legal due diligence on mergers, acquisitions, and other transactional workGather and develop facts in connection with inquiries and investigations, and in response to discovery requestsDraft and send legal correspondenceMaintain confidentiality on all sensitive information and department mattersBrings forth creative ideas (one’s own or others) to address patient, physician, customer, and community needs. Education and ExperienceBachelor’s Degree 6+ years of experience in corporate/healthcare related area with contractual and legal experienceFamiliar with a variety of the physician contract concepts, practices or proceduresRelies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsKnowledge of Federal and State laws including Stark and Anti-Kickback as they apply to physician contracts
