Yorkshire Pudding Catering is seeking a results-driven WordPress Specialist with advanced knowledge of website development, along with a deep understanding of SEO and conversion tracking. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing an effective digital presence to drive online traffic, increase brand visibility, and ultimately generate high-quality leads and boost conversion rates. You will be responsible for migrating and maintaining a WordPress website while ensuring that our online presence remains aligned with our brand identity and marketing goals. Reporting to the Owner, you will also ensure the smooth operation, optimization, and enhancement of our website to support a consistent and positive customer experience.
KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
WordPress Developer
Migrate (to a WP new theme and hosting service), test, and troubleshoot our website across multiple browsers and devices including tablets and smartphones, to support a consistent and positive customer experience, enhance usability and improve site performance.
Perform updates on the website, including content changes, bug fixes, and feature additions during as necessary.
Oversee and ensure the successful migration of our on-site E-Commerce shop to an external vendor’s platform.
Monitor and maintain website security, including SSL certificates and regular plugin updates to ensure the website runs smoothly with minimal downtime or technical issues.
Ensure compliance with privacy and data regulations like GDPR.
SEO Optimization
Conduct keyword research, on-page optimization, and backlink analysis.
Develop and execute development-related SEO strategies to improve organic search rankings and site speed.
Review analytics tools (Google Analytics, Search Console) to track visitor behavior and site performance and recommend improvements.
Implement and manage Google Tag Manager to streamline conversion tracking of various goals such as form submissions and lead generation.
Troubleshoot and resolve tracking issues as they arise.
Collaborate with the management team to implement on-page SEO strategies that align with branding and digital marketing campaigns.
Generate weekly reports for tracking engagement and conversions, etc.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Proven expertise in WordPress development with an understanding of theme and plugin customization.
Strong front-end development skills (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript - PHP?).
Demonstrated experience in implementing and maintaining website security protocols (SSL, regular plugin updates)
In-depth knowledge of SEO best practices and experience implementing, reviewing and improving SEO strategies.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and act on data from Google Analytics and Google Search Console
Expertise in setting up and managing tracking tools, including Google Tag Manager.
Proficient in the English language (both written and verbal).
Producing high-quality work with a strong focus on detail.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Must have: Wi-Fi connection and compatible pc/laptop.
Education, Qualifications & Experience:
Successful completion of a university degree or college diploma in digital communications, web design or a related field
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the development and management of WordPress websites of similar complexity.
Demonstrated success in optimizing websites for ranking, performance, speed, and conversions.
Judgement/Problem Solving/Decision Making:
This role requires independent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions regarding website performance, security, compliance and SEO. The developer will also be responsible for proactively identifying technical issues and resolving them before they impact performance.
Accountability:
The Web Developer is accountable for maintaining a high-functioning website that drives lead generation.
Leadership/Supervision/Coordination of Others:
Although the web developer will collaborate with the marketing team and external vendors (e-commerce platform and current developer), they will ultimately be expected to initiate, coordinate and implement all website-related tasks, ensuring deadlines are met and goals are achieved.
Communication:
This role requires frequent collaboration and communication with cross-functional teams (marketing and external partners).
Communication is primarily written (email, documentation) and verbal (meetings).
The web developer may need to present ideas and performance metrics to senior management and make recommendations for improvements.

This is a full time 2 month contract with the possibility of a consultancy opportunity at the end. This is a HYBRID opportunity with a 1-day per week IN OFFICE requirement.
